Mostafizur Rahman Papon, Member Secretary of Palash Upazila Chhatra Dal of Narsingdi, was shot dead while leaving his house to participate in BNP's rally. The incident took place in the Darihaolapara area adjacent to the Upazila Complex on Monday afternoon. Eyewitness Ariful Islam said, as a part of the central program of BNP, Palash upazila and BNP's affiliate organization was supposed to hold a procession in Palash at 3 pm. So we went out with Mustafizur Rahman Papon to participate in the procession. At that time several hundred activists of Chhaelig came and stopped us and beat us. Several activists including myself were injured in this. During the fight, Papon was shot in the leg. We first took Papan to Palash Upazila Hospital as he was shot.

In this regard, the president of Palash Upazila Chaelig Roni Pradhan said, we held a peaceful meeting today in the ground of Palash Upazila Shaheed Minar. No fighting happened here. Such shooting may happen in their party conflict.

Officer-in-charge of Palash police station said, we have heard the incident. But I have not received any written complaint. Investigation is going on, we will take necessary action if we get the truth of the incident.
