After settling in
Canada's Begum, Bangladeshis have invested heavily in buying houses in
the United Arab Emirates. According to Dubai government documents and
media reports, from January 2020 to June 2021, Bangladeshis have
invested 12.3 million dirhams or 288 million rupees in Dubai to buy land
and houses.
It is also known that among the people of the
countries who are buying land and houses in Dubai, Bangladeshis are the
first. There is no opportunity to take this money out of the country
legally. As a result, it has been taken illegally. This news has also
been published in several newspapers of the country.
Bangladeshis
bought these assets through 30 agents of 20 Bangladeshi housing
companies based in Dubai. This list includes businessmen, politicians
and bureaucrats. The secrecy of these investments in Dubai is protected.
Apart from this, a golden visa is given if one crore rupees are
invested in the country.
Analysts said that this amount of money
leaving the country during the time of Covid means that some people have
earned huge amount of money even in those difficult times. They do not
feel safe keeping this money in the country.
