Drone attack on US base in Syria

A drone strike has hit a US-led coalition military base in southern Syria, the US military's Central Command said. Two soldiers were injured.

According to the report, a statement from the US Central Command Centcom said on Friday that there were three drone attacks in a row. Of these, two drones were shot down, but the third drone hit the base. Some were injured.

Washington strongly condemned the attack. In addition, they claim that such an attack will harm the stability and security of Syria, putting coalition forces and civilians at risk. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier in November last year, there was a rocket attack on the US military base in Syria. The U.S. coalition established the base in 2016 to train Syrian fighters to fight the militant group ISIL.

US troops are stationed in Kurdish-controlled areas and other bases as part of the coalition's ongoing campaign against IS. The Pentagon has deployed about 900 US troops in the north-eastern region of Syria, despite strong objections from the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
